  • Produced and delivered by national experts in trauma management and following the success of last year’s course this is the 2nd National Student Trauma Course organised by the educational charity Trauma Care and covers the whole patient journey from arrival in the ED to discharge.

    The content is attractive to all student trauma practitioners whether working in pre-hospital care or in hospital and provides an insight into patient management and critical decision making. This is an interactive course where following each lecture there is small group working and general discussion including clinical cases.

  • Preparing to receive the patient
  • The resuscitation room – clinical roles and function
  • Trauma resuscitation in ED
  • Trauma Imaging
  • Trauma critical care
  • Trauma surgery and management of head injuries, chest injuries, abdominal trauma, pelvic trauma, long bone fractures and soft tissue injuries
  • Bullets and ballistic trauma
  • Burn injury
  • Paediatric trauma
  • Hyperacute and ongoing rehabilitation
  • Outcome, audit and research

Students will be together for presentations and then work in small groups for case scenario discussions with individual group tutors

Target audience

A must for all Medical students, student nurses, student paramedics, students from AHP’s interested trauma care

A two day comprehensive course, with a combination of short lectures and engaging practical team sessions where the candidate takes active part in the care of various trauma scenarios.
  • The course is delivered by experts covering a wide range of specialities involved in the continuum of trauma patient’s care.
  • The in hospital trauma course is suited to those Medical Students, Student Nurses and Student Paramedics, who wish to explore the early phase of trauma care.
  • In Hospital Trauma is a foundation course which can be used as an educational stepping stone towards the European Trauma Course which is currently only accessible to senior healthcare practitioners.
